Haydn and Bruckner. Classical era composer Josef Haydn's St. Bernardi Mass is one of six high masses written late in his career, 1796-1802. Nearly 60 years later, Romantic era composer Anton Bruckner created his Missa Solemnis, which is seldom performed. The Putnam Chorale is pleased to premiere Bruckner's work in Putnam County and contrast it with Haydn's earlier work, from which Bruckner quotes.
